• A Knitting Haiku

    Hey y'all,

    Frances here, Karen's daughter and behind-the-scenes GrammasKnittedGift minion. ;)

    Did you know that April 17 is National Haiku Day? I love a good haiku, and I thought in honor of National Craft Month we would sponsor a contest for crafting haiku's!

    We love all sorts of crafts in our house, so the topic is crafts and crafting - anything goes. Are you a weaver? Tell me all about your blankets and tapestries. A carpenter? Send me a love haiku dedicated to your radial arm saw. Do you love knitting as much as we do? Dedicate your haiku to the top down knit sock!

    Send your best crafting-related haiku to karen@grammasknittedgifts.com by April 15. We will draw three winners on April 17, and each will receive their own set of our best-selling cable needles, an essential part of the knitter's project bag. Want extra chances to win? If you submit five haiku's, then your name will be entered into the drawing five times!

    Do you want to join in the fun but your not sure how to write a haiku? It's easy!

    The haiku is a Japanese verse in three lines. Line one has 5 syllables, line 2 has 7 syllables and line three has 5 syllables. Haiku is a mood poem and it doesn't use any metaphors or similes.

    To get us started here's one I wrote:

    A new skein of yarn...

    My needles click together;

    A lovely pink scarf!

    I cannot wait to read what y'all come up with!

    Frances
